Engineering

You’ll develop the technical proficiency and critical problem-solving skills you need to analyze and design innovative solutions across a broad spectrum of engineering fields — and to make a lasting impact in whatever you do.

Overview

Engineering addresses the ways in which scientific principles, design, and technology intersect to solve real-world problems. At Lisburn University, we explore the various ways that engineering can be applied — and sometimes misapplied — to innovate in industries such as infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, and technology.

One day in class, your professor might present a case study about a recent engineering project or design. You and your classmates analyze, critique, and discuss the project from different angles, such as its design process, its impact on society, the materials and technologies used, and the ethical implications of its implementation. Then you might design your own solution to a similar challenge, applying the knowledge and principles you’ve learned.

Career Opportunities

Our graduates work and intern in a wide variety of roles across diverse industries — civil engineering, mechanical design, electrical systems, software development, renewable energy, construction management, and robotics. Many have also taken leadership positions in manufacturing, infrastructure, automotive, aerospace, and environmental sectors. We’ve seen our graduates start their own engineering firms, lead innovation projects, and others pursue advanced degrees in engineering, business, data science, and technology.

Program Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate an understanding of how engineering principles influence and shape technological advancements, societal infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and economic systems.

Be able to apply a variety of engineering methodologies, tools, and models to design, analyze, and optimize systems, processes, and technologies across various industries.

Demonstrate an understanding of the ethical, social, and global implications of engineering practices and innovations, preparing to use this knowledge to address real-world challenges and contribute to a sustainable and equitable future.
