Computer Science
In Computer Science, you’ll develop the technical expertise and critical problem-solving skills needed to analyze and create solutions across a wide range of industries — and to make a lasting impact in the digital world.
- 2 Years / Onsite
- Intakes: Jan, Apr, Jun, Oct
Overview
Computer Science explores the ways in which algorithms, data, and software systems influence and shape modern society. At Lisburn University, we dive into the many ways technology can be used — and sometimes misused — to drive change in fields like business, healthcare, entertainment, law, and more.
In class, your professor might present a new algorithm or software application that’s transforming a particular industry. You and your classmates will analyze and critique it from various perspectives — its functionality, its impact on users, the ethical implications of its use, and its potential for future innovation. Then, you’ll design your own software solution to address a real-world problem.
Career Opportunities
Our graduates work and intern in a variety of roles across numerous industries — software development, data science, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, systems engineering, and technology consulting. Many have also launched their own tech startups or pursued advanced studies in fields such as computer science, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and engineering.
Program Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate an understanding of how technology and algorithms shape patterns of interaction, the expression of cultural values and norms, societal structures, and our roles as local and global citizens in a digital world.
Be able to use a variety of computational tools and methodologies to analyze data, develop software, and address real-world challenges in both technical and ethical dimensions of computing.
Demonstrate an understanding of the impact, opportunities, and ethical considerations of technology in society and be prepared to use your knowledge to create solutions that contribute to a more equitable and sustainable world.
