Overview
Energy Management Systems focus on the strategies, technologies, and policies that optimize energy use and sustainability in various industries and communities. At Lisburn University, we explore the critical role energy management plays in addressing climate change, improving efficiency, and driving innovation in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.
One day in class, your professor might present a case study on the energy usage of a major organization or a city’s renewable energy initiative. You and your classmates analyze, critique, and discuss the case from multiple perspectives, such as its environmental impact, cost efficiency, scalability, and technological innovation. Then you might design your own energy management plan or propose solutions to improve energy sustainability in a real-world context.
Career Opportunities
Our graduates work and intern in a wide variety of fields, including renewable energy, energy consultancy, environmental management, sustainability initiatives, urban planning, government energy regulation, and energy systems technology. Many have contributed to energy efficiency projects, worked with utilities to optimize grid systems, or developed innovative solutions for managing resources sustainably. We’ve also had graduates start their own businesses in green technologies and others go on to graduate school in energy policy, environmental science, or sustainable development.
Program Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate an understanding of how energy consumption patterns, sustainable practices, and technological innovations shape global and local energy systems, influencing environmental policies, social values, and economic growth.
Be able to use a variety of analytical tools to assess energy usage, the impact of renewable energy technologies, and strategies for improving energy efficiency in both residential and industrial sectors.
Demonstrate an understanding of the challenges and opportunities in energy management, the transition to sustainable energy, and the balance between energy demands and environmental sustainability, preparing to contribute to a greener and more energy-efficient future.
