Prosthodontics

You’ll develop the advanced clinical skills and critical thinking necessary to diagnose, plan, and provide comprehensive prosthodontic care across a wide spectrum of dental conditions — and to make a significant impact in the field of oral health and patient well-being.

Overview

Prosthodontics addresses the restoration and replacement of teeth to improve both the function and aesthetics of the mouth. At Lisburn University, we explore the latest techniques and materials used to create prosthetic solutions for a variety of dental conditions, such as missing teeth, jaw disorders, and cosmetic imperfections.

In the classroom, your professor might present a case study of a complex prosthodontic procedure. You and your classmates analyze, critique, and discuss the treatment options from different perspectives, such as patient needs, material selection, and potential outcomes. Then, you’ll design a treatment plan for the patient using your newly acquired knowledge and skills.

Career Opportunities

Our graduates work and intern in a range of roles in the field of prosthodontics and dentistry, including clinical practice, dental laboratories, research, and teaching. Many have gone on to specialize in areas like implantology, cosmetic dentistry, and restorative dentistry. Others have taken leadership positions in healthcare institutions, dental technology firms, and academia. We’ve also had graduates pursue further education in advanced prosthodontics, oral surgery, and dental materials research, contributing to the continuous development of the field.
