Overview
Philosophy addresses the ways in which concepts like truth, justice, freedom, and knowledge shape our understanding of the world. At Lisburn University, we explore how philosophical ideas influence culture, ethics, politics, science, and every area in which we seek meaning and purpose.
One day in class, your professor might present a classic philosophical text or a contemporary ethical dilemma. You and your classmates will engage in deep analysis, critique, and discussion of these ideas from various perspectives, such as their implications for society, their logical structure, and their relevance to modern issues. Then, you will formulate and present your own philosophical arguments in response.
Career Opportunities
Our graduates work and intern in a variety of fields, including law, education, ethics consulting, public policy, government, business, research, and nonprofit organizations. Many of our philosophy graduates pursue careers in teaching, writing, or research, while others apply their critical thinking and problem-solving skills in diverse sectors such as healthcare, international relations, technology, and the arts. We’ve also had graduates continue their studies in advanced philosophy programs, law school, public policy, theology, and other graduate disciplines.
