Overview
Arts in Design explores how visual elements, such as color, shape, texture, and space, convey meaning and influence human perception and behavior. At Lisburn University, we investigate how design can be used — and sometimes misused — to shape culture, communication, and functionality in art, advertising, fashion, architecture, and beyond.
One day in class, your professor might present a design concept or a branding campaign. You and your classmates analyze, critique, and discuss it from various perspectives, such as its visual appeal, its intended message, the emotions it evokes, its cultural relevance, and its impact on the target audience. Then, you’ll create your own design proposal, applying what you’ve learned to craft a unique visual identity or concept.
Career Opportunities
Our graduates work and intern in a wide variety of creative fields — graphic design, industrial design, fashion design, interior design, advertising, branding, multimedia design, and digital art. Many pursue careers in design agencies, marketing firms, and media production companies. Additionally, some graduates have launched their own design businesses, while others continue their education by attending graduate school in design, fine arts, architecture, and other related disciplines.

Students will apply a variety of design methodologies and tools to analyze and create visual solutions for a broad spectrum of real-world problems, considering cultural, psychological, and aesthetic factors in their designs.
Students will understand the evolution of design, its ethical implications, and its potential for social change, preparing them to create designs that are not only visually appealing but also meaningful, sustainable, and socially responsible.
