Overview
Critical Diversity Studies examines the ways in which identities, power dynamics, and cultural representations shape and influence human behavior and social structures. At Lisburn University, we explore how diversity can be understood, celebrated, and applied to foster inclusion, equity, and meaningful social change in various fields, including culture, education, law, politics, and business.
One day in class, your professor might present a film clip, advertisement, or public statement reflecting themes of diversity and equity. You and your classmates analyze, critique, and discuss the material from multiple perspectives, exploring its social implications, power structures, and cultural significance. Then you create your own piece, applying the principles of inclusive and equitable communication.
Career Opportunities
Our graduates work and contribute in a variety of roles across diverse fields, including education, community advocacy, public policy, nonprofit management, academic administration, and research. Many have gone on to pursue advanced degrees in critical studies, education, sociology, public policy, and cultural studies. Others have founded organizations or initiatives aimed at addressing systemic inequalities and fostering inclusive and equitable practices in education and beyond.
